Aliceinlab Mandarin Studio was founded in 2026, specializing in premium Mandarin Chinese language education and educational product development. True to the “Lab” in our brand name, our philosophy is to continuously explore the essence of language and pedagogy through constant innovation and refinement.

Meet our Founder

Dong Xu (Alice), began her journey in Mandarin education in 2004. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and two decades of dedication to the field, she has never stopped pushing the boundaries of pedagogy:

Elite University Faculty Experience (Tsinghua University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, University of Hawaii, and Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong).

Deep Insight into Local and Global Pain Points (extensive experience in one-on-one coaching, global learners’ difficulties, and Hong Kong’s local Chinese learning environment).

 Our Educational Philosophy

Many consider Chinese to be one of the most difficult languages to master. However, we firmly believe that by grasping the most fundamental patterns of the language, we can simplify the complex and make anything possible.

Years ago on Maui, Alice found herself accidentally driving on an unpaved section of the famous “Road to Hana.” The road was sandwiched between a cliffside and a steep drop-off, cell service was gone, and the path was too narrow to make a U-turn. As a newly licensed driver, her fear was palpable.

Yet, she decided to view those dangerous edges simply as two white lines on a regular road. She realized that as long as she stayed centered on that path, she would reach safety. By focusing on this core path, she filtered out the terrifying distractions on both sides and successfully navigated her way out of the mountains.

Learning Chinese follows the exact same logic. Facing even the most complex grammar or tones, if you grasp the most fundamental patterns—finding the “two white lines” of Mandarin—everything simplifies.
